The best book I've read in a while, this was a fascinating insight into the differences between apparently identical twins.
Chloe and Sue were born just 4 minutes apart, into a life of privilege. Unfortunately, although they appeared to have everything, they lacked one vitally important factor in their lives; parental love and affection. So that there are in fact two seams running through the book: the interaction between Chloe and Sue and the effect of the behaviour of their strange and extremely negligent parents.
Sue in in conflict within herself, She loves and admires her 'older, prettier, brighter' twin, but hates the feelings of inadequacy that Chloe engenders within her. She reacts with a desperate need to possess her, to the exclusion of all other people.
Chloe loves her twin, but needs space, she wants to make friends, even have a boyfriend, but Sue's possessiveness makes this impossible.
From this starting point Marcy Delinsky weaves a wonderful, poiniant novel that gripped me from the start. We follow the characters for 6 years, from age 12, through their teenage years. The interactions and changes between the characters are beautifully described and the end is satisfyingly believable.
The style of writing and the concentration on the teenage years was reminiscent to me of Jodi Picoult and I was not surprised to note that readers who bought this book also bought Picoult's work.
Definately recommended.

Вообще, мене эта тема настолько трогает... Я сейчас вот Тринадцатую сказку читаю, там тоже есть линия близнецов.

pure accident, не, я про то, что именно близнецовская тема, а не это отпустить-убежать. Когда двое -- есть одно.

pure accident, про то, когда одинокие? Да. Но ведь и такое бывает. Мне кажется, что и это тоже важно, чтоб понять, насколько важно, чтобы их было двое...

я читала повелитель мух, там тоже близнецы были, они даже бодрстовать по отдельности не могли.
